RAM Adopts SAE's J2807 System to Rate Towing Capacity

When it comes to RAM trucks, we already know that they deliver plenty of power, but the question is just how much. While horsepower and torque are universally measured, towing capacity is not. To remedy this, the RAM brand has adopted Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)'s standardized J2807 testing system. Check out the results by viewing the video clip below.

The results from the test for the new RAM lineup are:

  • RAM 1500 with 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 tows 7,600 pounds
  • RAM 1500 with 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 tows 9,200 pounds
  • RAM 1500 with 5.7-liter Hemi V8 tows 10,650 pounds
  • RAM 2500 with 6.4-liter Hemi V8 tows 16,300 pounds
  • RAM 2500 with 6.7-liter Cummins inline-six diesel tows 17,970 pounds
  • RAM 3500 with 6.4-liter Hemi V8 tows 16,420 pounds
  • RAM 3500 with 6.7-liter Cummins inline-six diesel tows 30,000 pounds
